Early in the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations were to focus well child care on children less than two years of age to ensure they did not fall behind on primary vaccinations. Recently the recommendations changed to resume well child care for all ages. Cuyuna Regional Medical Center encourages and reminds parents that well child checks are still needed and important for healthy children. Visits are being resumed at CRMC’s physician clinics in a safe, reliable environment.
Guided by infection control experts and recommendations from the CDC, CRMC has taken numerous steps in addition to standard rigorous infection prevention measures to ensure its facilities remain safe places for patients to confidently receive care.
Well child checks allow a doctor to track the development of the child. Each check provides an opportunity to measure progress and make sure children get the care they need to stay healthy.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends child visits at the following ages: 2 to 5 days, 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 2 years, 2½ years, 3 years and once every year thereafter for a physical examination and other assessments.
