High energy foods you should add to your diet will be the topic of discussion at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center’s Cancer Support Group on Thursday, May 17, from 12 to 2 p.m. in the hospital’s Clinic Conference Room.
People who are newly diagnosed with cancer, undergoing treatment or post treatment and their significant others are invited to hear CRMC’s Director of Clinical Nutrition Heather Erickson, R.D., speak about energy producing foods. She will also provide new recipes to try. Those attending are encouraged to bring a recipe to share. The group is an opportunity to share experiences and support one another, to listen and learn.
Erickson began serving as CRMC’s Director of Nutritional Services in 2003. She came to CRMC from Manor Care Health Services in Fargo where she was a dietitian for four years. She also has experience as an instructor and consultant at Mobridge Regional Hospital, Walworth County Community Health Clinic and Missouri Valley Nursing Center, all in South Dakota. Erickson earned her Bachelor of Science degree at North Dakota State University in Fargo in 1997 and became a Registered Dietitian in 1998. She is a member of the American Dietetic Association.
Registration for the support group is not required and there is no cost to attend. A new topic is discussed each month and a complimentary lunch is provided. Groups are scheduled the second Thursday of each month. For more information, call 218-546-4319 or 218-546-4302.
