Finding Hope for Opioid Addiction at CRMC
A Growing Crisis in Minnesota
The opioid crisis continues to devastate communities across Minnesota and the nation. In 2022, more than 1,000 Minnesotans died from opioid overdoses. This growing epidemic has been worsened by the rise of fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that is 50 to 100 times more potent than heroin.
Addiction Doesn’t Discriminate
Opioid addiction affects people from all walks of life, regardless of age, gender, race, or socioeconomic status. In response to this public health emergency, Cuyuna Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is committed to being part of the solution. Through its Hope Clinic program, CRMC offers Suboxone therapy for the treatment of opioid use disorder at both its Crosby and Longville clinic locations.
“Addiction affects so many families, and it doesn’t care where you live. That’s why offering evidence-based treatment like Suboxone in our community matters. People deserve access to recovery care that’s close to home,” said CRMC physician Dr. Lacey Running Hawk.
Dr. Running Hawk is one of several providers at CRMC trained to work alongside patients overcoming opioid addiction through the Hope Clinic. Suboxone treatment provides vital support to those struggling with opioid use disorder, offering a safe and effective path to recovery.
How Suboxone Works
Suboxone is a prescription medication that combines buprenorphine and naloxone:
- Buprenorphine: A partial opioid agonist that relieves cravings and withdrawal symptoms without producing a strong high.
- Naloxone: An opioid antagonist that blocks the effects of opioids and prevents misuse.
Together, these ingredients make Suboxone a powerful tool in addiction recovery. Its “ceiling effect” makes it safer and better suited for long-term maintenance than traditional opioids.
A Holistic Approach to Addiction Treatment
At CRMC’s Hope Clinic, Suboxone treatment is integrated with case management, behavioral therapy, and social services, offering patients comprehensive support to address the root causes of addiction.
“At Hope Clinic, we’re all about meeting people where they’re at in their recovery journey. There’s no judgment—just support, encouragement, and a team that really cares” said Running Hawk.
This holistic approach targets both the physical and psychological aspects of substance use disorder, significantly improving the chances of successful recovery. Personalized treatment plans are tailored to each individual’s unique needs.

“Working in recovery is honestly one of the most rewarding parts of my job—to walk alongside people as they rediscover their strength, their purpose, and their hope,” said Running Hawk.
