Jeffrey Jim, MD, experienced cardiologist at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center, providing heart care services for patients in Crosby and Baxter, Minnesota.

Meet Crosby’s First Vascular Specialist

Dr. Jeffrey Jim is the first vascular specialist at CRMC, bringing advanced expertise in diagnosing and managing conditions affecting the arteries and veins, including:

  • Peripheral artery disease (PAD)
  • Carotid artery disease
  • Aneurysms
  • Venous insufficiency
  • Other vascular disorders

“We’re excited to welcome Dr. Jeffrey Jim to CRMC in Crosby as it allows us to offer additional vascular services to meet our patients’ needs,” said Amy Hart, CEO, Cuyuna Regional Medical Center.

Why Expanded Heart and Vascular Care Matters

According to a new report released by the American Heart Association, death from heart disease decreased between 2022 and 2023 – from 941,652 to 915,973 (2.7%). While moving in the right direction, cardiovascular disease is still the leading cause of death, killing more people in the U.S. than cancer and accidents combined. This data supports the need for greater access to heart care.

Comprehensive Cardiovascular Care—Closer to Home

Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute provides care at both its Crosby and Baxter locations, offering a full spectrum of cardiovascular services—from prevention and diagnosis to treatment and rehabilitation. Specialized services include:

  • Cardiac device clinic for monitoring pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs)
  • Women’s heart health services
  • Nuclear imaging to assess heart function
  • Echocardiograms and exercise stress testing

“We have multiple cardiovascular specialists who travel the miles so patients don’t have to. Having a vascular specialist in both Crosby and Baxter enhances the team’s ability to deliver comprehensive, expert care,” said Timothy Dirks, MD, cardiologist at Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute. “Our goal with this approach is to help meaningfully improve the health of people in the Brainerd Lakes Area who need cardiovascular care.”

What Patients Can Expect

Dr. Jim has served lakes area patients through the Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute in Baxter since 2022 and will now alternate his monthly time between the Baxter and Cuyuna Regional Medical Center campuses. His first day in Crosby is Wednesday, Feb. 18. Virtual visits will also be available to expand access. Dr. Jim will continue to perform surgeries and procedures at Allina Health Heart & Vascular Surgery Center, Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, and United Hospital in St. Paul.

“I’m eager to begin seeing patients in Crosby so they can receive full-service, specialty care without having to travel to a metro hospital or specialty center for their regular care,” said Dr. Jim. “This convenience saves them time and resources, and more importantly, can help improve their heart health allowing them to live longer, healthier lives.”
