Family Physician, Lacey Running Hawk of Ironton, joined Cuyuna Regional Medical Center’s Crosby Clinic in November 2020. She is passionate about preventative health, women’s health, prenatal care, pediatric care, community outreach and mentorship, and is skilled in several outpatient procedures. Dr. Running Hawk came to CRMC from Ne la Shing Clinic in Onamia, where she had practiced for four years.

She earned her Medical Degree at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Duluth and Minneapolis and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology at the University of Minnesota-Morris. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at the United Family Medicine Residency Program in St. Paul. Her community service includes serving as a preceptor to medical students in the University of Minnesota Rural Physician Scholars Program. She also partnered with the American Indian Magnet School in St. Paul, directing a program titled “5-2-1-0 with American Indian Youth” that focused on the health and wellness of elementary students.

“I was a patient at CRMC before I was a physician here, so I have experienced the care and attention to detail as a patient. I am proud to continue that as a physician now. I value the trust that patients place in me, so it’s important to me to take the time to listen and partner with patients and their families. I also enjoy education and preventative care. I am the medical director of our office-based opioid treatment program, so opioid addiction treatment and recovery is another area I am passionate about.”

An enrolled member of the Standing Rock Lakota Sioux tribe, Dr. Running Hawk’s favorite hobbies are paddle boarding and mountain biking with her family – husband Jason and two kids, Henry and Margo. She also loves long walks with her dogs, Moose and Grizzly.

“The Cuyuna area is absolute paradise, and I try not to take for granted that I get to live here. I am an avid reader and love being part of the CRMC book club. I am also a huge Minnesota Vikings fan and truly believe that next year is OUR YEAR!” 🙂
