The American Red Cross is experiencing its worst blood and platelet shortage since 2015. An estimated more than 10,000 blood products need to be collected every week over the next month to overcome the deficit. Despite limited supply, the demand for blood has not gone down. Many patients need life-saving blood and platelet transfusions for emergency and medical care. Whether a patient has been in an accident and needs a blood transfusion or they are undergoing chemotherapy and need platelets to help clot wounds, blood is vital to save lives. There are many ways to help end this shortage. If you are eligible to donate, find local blood drives in your area and make an appointment at https://www.redcrossblood.org/. You can also sign up to volunteer or give a monetary donation to the Red Cross.
