CRMC Honored for Innovative Patient Care During IV Shortage

CROSBY, Minn. – Cuyuna Regional Medical Center (CRMC), is honored to receive the Minnesota Hospital Association’s Innovation in Patient Care Award. This statewide recognition is an incredible honor highlighting the passion, innovation, and teamwork that define CRMC. This award reflects our unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional care and finding creative solutions that put patients first.

How Teamwork Overcame a National IV Fluid Supply Crisis

When a hurricane caused a national shortage of Baxter IV fluids, Cuyuna Regional Medical Center developed a real-time tracking tool and implemented tailored conservation protocols to safeguard patient care. Through disciplined collaboration across departments and creative problem-solving—such as repurposing 1L bags into smaller doses—CRMC sustained full services and canceled zero procedures. While other facilities faced service disruptions, CRMC’s agile, patient-centered approach ensured uninterrupted care for its rural community.
