Bowel Control Therapy
Discuss with your healthcare provider the possibility of undergoing a minimally invasive procedure to initiate long-term treatment with a small bowel control device. This device utilizes gentle electrical stimulation to correct the miscommunication between the bowel and the brain, thereby alleviating your symptoms.
The procedure is typically performed on an outpatient basis and lasts about an hour. During the procedure, the device will be implanted in your upper buttock just under the skin. You will be provided with a wireless controller to adjust your treatment as needed. Your healthcare provider will instruct you on how to make these adjustments easily.
It’s important to note that this device is not permanent, and you always have the option to turn it off and have it removed if desired.
