Pain Management

CRMC offers the Brainerd Lakes Area’s only locally-operated, fully comprehensive pain management center for patients suffering from chronic and acute-on-chronic pain. Pain management specialists focus on helping patients who have pain that is interfering with their daily life. CRMC’s pain management center provides the latest advances in treatment and supportive care to help reduce or alleviate pain and restore quality of life. This may include medications, implantable pain-control devices, image guided injections, physical and occupational therapy, and behavioral pain psychology and psychiatry. Pain management specialists work closely with other physicians and health care providers to coordinate care and develop the best possible plan for managing a patient’s pain and improving quality of life.

What is Pain Management?

Chronic pain affects millions of people every year and has a significant impact on our country’s health care costs, lost work productivity, as well as personal emotional and financial burdens. Latest estimates indicate that the number of people in the United States who experience chronic pain is greater than the number of people with cancer, heart disease, and diabetes combined. Even when pain is only mild, it can have a significant impact on your daily life. When pain is intense, it can bring your daily activities to a complete stop.  Fortunately, there are many treatments available that can help reduce the burden of chronic pain.

The Pain Management specialists at CRMC use a comprehensive approach to managing and treating chronic pain. By listening to each patient’s history, performing a detailed physical examination and psychological assessment, reviewing past treatment records and obtaining the results of diagnostic tests and interventional treatments, we are able to develop an individualized treatment plan for each patient.

CRMC believes that pain management requires a multidisciplinary team approach, using a combination of techniques. Our comprehensive team approach includes on-site testing and treatments, behavioral therapy, pain psychology and psychiatry, physical and occupational therapy, precise image guided injections, and an open-MRI.
