Rebecca Smith, RN, Honored as DAISY Award Recipient

CRMC is proud to recognize Rebecca Smith, RN, as the recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses for her compassionate patient care and dedication to supporting patients through difficult medical journeys.

Smith was nominated by a patient who shared how she made a lasting impact throughout their cancer treatment experience.

“When I first started my cancer journey, I had no idea how much I would come to rely on Becca,” the nominator wrote. “She has been my steady guide through every challenge, the one person I know I can count on when things get complicated.”

The nomination highlighted Smith’s ability to provide comfort, clear communication, and emotional support during uncertain moments.

“She takes time to explain what’s happening, calls to check on me when things get delayed, and never lets me feel like I’m navigating this alone,” the nominator shared. “Her compassion goes beyond her role — she listens, she encourages, and she genuinely cares.”

What Is the DAISY Award?

The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that honors nurses who provide extraordinary clinical care and compassion to patients and families.

CRMC launched the DAISY Award program in 2022 to celebrate nurses who go above and beyond in delivering exceptional care. Each quarter, a CRMC committee reviews nominations submitted by patients, families, visitors, and staff members to select one honoree.

How CRMC Honors DAISY Award Recipients

DAISY Award recipients are recognized during a celebration attended by coworkers, patients, and visitors. Honorees receive:

• A DAISY Award certificate
• A DAISY Award pin
• A Healer’s Touch sculpture hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe

Patients, family members, visitors, and staff are encouraged to nominate nurses who have made a meaningful difference in their care experience. Nomination forms and collection boxes are also available throughout the CRMC campus.
