Nurse Katie Wieland Honored with DAISY Award

Cuyuna Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is honored to recognize Katie Wieland, RN, with the organization’s DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses for her outstanding patient care.

Wieland’s nominator wrote, in part, “Katie consistently went above and beyond in her care. On one particularly challenging night, she changed bedding three times without hesitation, ensuring cleanliness and dignity were preserved. She anticipated needs before they were voiced, adjusting pillows, monitoring pain levels, and coordinating timely interventions that made a tangible difference in comfort and recovery.”

CRMC implemented the DAISY Award in 2022. Each quarter, a CRMC committee carefully selects from among many deserving nominees to receive this prestigious recognition. Recipients are honored at a celebration attended by the honoree’s colleagues, patients, and visitors. Each honoree receives a certificate recognizing them as an “Extraordinary Nurse,” which reads: “In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people.” Honorees also receive a DAISY Award pin and a beautiful sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe.
