CRMC Announces DAISY Award Recipient

CRMC Announces DAISY Award Recipient

Cuyuna Regional Medical Center recognized Laurie Murphy, CMA, with the organization’s DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses for outstanding patient care. A CRMC staff member for 13 years, Murphy, of Brainerd, works in Family Practice at the Crosby Primary Care Clinic.

The patient who nominated Murphy for the award wrote, “My late husband called Laurie his “angel” because of her devotion to her job, the care she showed him, and all she cares for. She sent funny cards, made meaningful signs for encouragement, and always had a hug for him whenever he was at CRMC, no matter what department he was in. She is always willing to go the extra mile to make all her patients feel heard, cared for, and comfortable. She is truly a blessing to your facility.”

CRMC implemented the DAISY Award in 2022. A CRMC committee carefully chooses among many deserving nominees quarterly to receive the prestigious recognition. Recipients are presented the award at a celebration attended by the honoree’s colleagues, patients, and visitors. Each honoree receives a certificate commending them as an “Extraordinary Nurse.” The certificate reads: “In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people.” Honorees also receive a DAISY Award pin and a beautiful, meaningful sculpture called ‘Healer’s Touch,’ hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe.
