Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Home Care Nurse Alicia Wiseley-Peterson, R.N., of Ironton recently received the organization’s Trophy Fish Award for going above and beyond in her job duties by using her vacation time to help a pediatric patient with a chronic, life limiting illness while he attended summer camp.
The patient had attended camp the previous year and the camp nurse was completely overwhelmed with the patient’s medical history, medications and IV lines. The child desired to go to camp again and the camp nurse reached out to Wiseley-Peterson and asked her to volunteer her time to care of the child at camp. Wiseley-Peterson agreed and used her personal time off to be the camp nurse the week the child attended.
“The child was able to enjoy a week of camp thanks to Alicia. This is above and beyond, meeting the value of caring for patients,” her nominator wrote.
Wiseley-Peterson has been member of CRMC’s staff the past 21 years.
