
Board Certified Interventional Pain Specialist Dan Lonergan, M.D., will begin treating patients at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center’s Pain Management Center on September 3.
Dr. Lonergan received his Medical Doctorate from St. Louis University School of Medicine, graduating in 2006 with distinction in research, and completed his anesthesiology residency in 2010 and pain medicine fellowship in 2011 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience from Brigham Young University (2002).
The specialist was a Vanderbilt BH Robbins Scholar, with research publications involving a wide range of topics including potassium channel physiology, pharmaceutical development, opioid detoxification, medical informatics, anesthesiology, addiction, chronic pain, peripheral neuropathy and complex regional pain syndrome. He has done volunteer medical work in Guatemala, India, the Middle East (including refugee camps in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank), and received the SEA-HVO traveling scholarship to provide medical aid in Mwanza, Tanzania, in 2009.
Prior to joining CRMC, he was the medical director of the comprehensive pain service at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He has specific expertise in the treatment of spinal pain through the use of interventional and multidisciplinary modalities without the use of opioids or other addictive substances. He is licensed to practice medicine in Minnesota and Tennessee.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Lonergan enjoys spending time with his wife, Katie, and their five children. He loves fishing, boating, mountain biking, and winter sports and is excited to be living in a place where these are in abundance. For an appointment with Dr. Lonergan, call 218-545-1001.
