Administrative Office Volunteer

Volunteers are trained to provide clerical and administrative support to the Home Health & Hospice office staff. The duties of the volunteer are in accordance with the needs identified by the office team and may include tasks to support efficient office operations.

Location: Volunteers will provide services at the CRMC Home Health & Hospice office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with filing, organizing, and maintaining office records.
  • Preparing and assembling documents or mailings.
  • Answering phones and directing calls as needed.
  • Making patient contacts/phone calls.
  • Greeting visitors and providing general assistance.
  • Inputting data and maintaining spreadsheets.
  • Organizing supplies and maintaining inventory.
  • Supporting special projects and events as assigned.
  • Participating in quality assurance tasks, such as chart audits.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by office staff.

Reports to: Hospice Volunteer Coordinator and QAPI Nurse

Time Commitment: Based on the availability of the volunteer and the needs of the Home Health & Hospice office.

Qualifications: Volunteers must complete the required training before assisting in the office.

Support: Training for this role will be provided by the Volunteer Coordinator or designated office staff. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to attend ongoing in-service training.

Direct Patient Volunteer

Volunteers are trained to provide support and companionship to clients and caregivers and assist with ancillary and office activities. The duties of the volunteer are in accordance with the Volunteer Service Referral Form/Care Plan. When an individual volunteer is assigned to a client/caregiver, they will be made aware of the specific duties as assigned by the primary nurse or social worker, who will supervise the volunteer.

Location: Volunteers will provide services where the client/caregiver’s resides, the CRMC Hospice office, or other locations as appropriate to the referral.

Key Responsibilities:

• Visiting with clients to provide companionship.
• Assisting with household chores.
• Running errands for the client/family.
• Providing respite care (not hands on care).
• Offering office assistance as needed.
• Making bereavement contacts/phone calls.
• Supporting fundraising activities.
• Participating in quality assurance and chart audits.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Hospice Volunteer Coordinator and QAPI Nurse

Music Therapy Coordinator

Volunteers trained in music therapy provide comfort and emotional support to hospice clients and caregivers through musical interactions. In addition, the Music Therapist oversees the Volunteer Music Therapy Program, training and coordinating volunteers who provide music-based support to clients. (This may be done remotely.) The duties of the volunteer are in accordance with the Volunteer Service Referral Form/Care Plan and are supervised by the primary nurse or social worker.

Location: Volunteers will provide services where the client/caregiver’s resides, the CRMC Hospice office, or other locations as appropriate to the referral.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training, supervising, and coordinating Music Therapy Volunteers.
  • Assigning volunteers to appropriate clients and providing guidance on therapeutic music interactions.
  • Educating staff and families about the benefits of music therapy in hospice care.
  • Visiting with clients to provide companionship.
  • Providing live music through singing, playing an instrument, or other musical activities to bring comfort to clients and caregivers.
  • Facilitating therapeutic musical interactions to enhance emotional well-being.
  • Assisting with music-related activities, such as sing-alongs or creating personalized playlists.
  • Providing respite care (not hands on care).
  • Supporting bereavement or memorial services through music when requested.
  • Participating in community outreach or fundraising activities as appropriate.
  • Documenting visits and feedback as required.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Volunteers are trained to provide comfort and companionship to hospice clients and caregivers through visits with certified therapy animals. The duties of the volunteer are in accordance with the Volunteer Service Referral Form/Care Plan and are supervised by the primary nurse or social worker.

Location: Volunteers will provide services where the client/caregiver’s resides, the CRMC Hospice office, or other locations as appropriate to the referral.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visiting with clients to provide companionship.
  • Visiting clients and caregivers with a certified therapy animal to provide comfort and emotional support.
  • Assisting with therapeutic interactions between the therapy animal and clients.
  • Providing companionship to clients through pet-focused visits.
  • Supporting staff or office events by offering pet therapy services.
  • Providing respite care (not hands on care).
  • Participating in bereavement contacts/phone calls if requested.
  • Supporting fundraising activities or community outreach as appropriate.
  • Maintaining the therapy animal’s certification and documentation.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Volunteers must complete the required training before being assigned to clients and their caregivers. Therapy animal must be certified through a recognized pet therapy organization. Volunteers must have the ability to manage the therapy animal during visits and interactions.

Support: Training for this role will be provided by the Volunteer Coordinator. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to attend ongoing in-service training.

Dress Code: Smart casual. The therapy animal will also wear a badge with the animal’s name and the owner’s name. Owner must wear a badge.
