
Psychotherapist Katie Nystrom of St. Cloud will begin practicing at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center on November 15. She is joining Psychiatrist Dr. Darshana Bhattacharyya and Psychologist Dr. Kristan Furan on CRMC’s Behavioral Health Team.
Nystrom will assist patients with various mental health conditions such as stress, depression, anxiety, insomnia, addiction, bipolar disorder, negative behavior patterns, schizophrenia, and other debilitating feelings. She uses talk therapy to treat individuals, couples, groups, and families for emotional problems and mental illnesses. Nystrom acts as a guide toward helping her patients understand their condition and feelings, cope with daily life, and manage their mental health to be able to function normally and improve the quality of their life.
The psychotherapist comes to CRMC from Carris Health/Rice Memorial in Willmar where she practiced as an associate psychotherapist since 2020. Before that, she was an associate at CentraCare in St. Cloud providing psychological consults in the ER and therapy on medical floors as well chemical dependency consults. She also has experience as a Behavioral Access Consultant and Chemical Dependency Assessor. A psychotherapist as a Licensed Independent Social Worker since April 2021, Nystrom earned Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Social Work at St. Cloud State University. She has been an associate psychotherapist since 2016 and completed internships and field work at St. Benedict’s Senior Community, Stearns County Corrections, and Birthline, all in St. Cloud.
