People who are newly diagnosed with cancer, undergoing treatment or post-treatment, and their significant others are invited to hear Cuyuna Regional Medical Center’s Certified Nurse Practitioner Ashley Yager speak about insomnia in oncology patients at CRMC’s Cancer Support Group on Thursday, Dec. 21, from 12 to 1 p.m.
Yager will share information about nonpharmacologic interventions that patients can incorporate into their daily routines to improve sleep and signs and symptoms that need further work-up.
The Nurse Practitioner joined the Cancer Care Center medical staff in September 2023. She provides care and consulting services for those with hematologic disease and who have been diagnosed with cancer and provides education to patients and their families.
Previously, Yager worked as a Family & Adult-Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in Hospital Medicine and in sleep medicine at a Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine Clinic. She earned her advanced practice degree at the University of South Alabama in Mobile and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth and an Associate of Science degree from Central Lakes College in Brainerd.
Also at the group, Cancer Care Navigator Dustine Parks will lead a discussion. The group is an opportunity to share experiences and support one another, to listen and learn. Cancer Support Group meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month with a new topic each month. A soup and sandwich lunch is served. There is no cost but those planning to attend should make a reservation by sending a message to dustine.parks@cuyunamed.org or calling 218-546-4319.
Participants can also attend virtually. Send a message requesting a meeting link to dustine.parks@cuyunamed.org. Call 218-546-4319 or 218-546-4302 for more information.
