Cuyuna Regional Medical Center’s Care Center Activities Department is seeking the donation of new or gently used iPods, or other devices for listening to music, for its Music and Memory program in which staff makes individual personalized music playlists for residents in need.
Music & Memory is a program that helps people in nursing homes and other care organizations who suffer from a wide range of cognitive and physical challenges to find renewed meaning and connection in their lives through the gift of personalized music. Music Therapy has been proven to bring patients suffering from the effects of dementia to a better place emotionally and cognitively. Even if for a brief time in their day, they're able to escape to a song to bring back memories of better times. Watch the short video below to see just how this program can change a resident's life.
Those who wish to donate an iPod or other music device may contact the Care Center Activities Department at 218-546-700, ext. 4102, to arrange for drop off.
