John Berquist, DO, joined the medical staff of Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in January 2024 as an Endocrinologist. He will diagnose and treat people with a range of conditions that are caused by problems with hormones, such as diabetes, menopause, and thyroid problems.
Among the other conditions and disorders Dr. Berquist will treat are obesity, osteoporosis, metabolic abnormalities, infertility, growth disorders, some cancers, and disorders in the hormone-producing adrenal glands and pituitary glands. He will treat disorders of the endocrine system, the network of hormone-producing glands that control many different bodily functions.

Dr. Berquist recently completed a Fellowship in Endocrinology at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He previously practiced as a Resident Physician at McLaren Oakland Internal Medicine program in Pontiac, Mich., where he was Chief Resident. The specialist earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine in Dothan, Ala. He also holds a Master of Business Administration General Management from Troy University in Troy, Ala., and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minn.
The Endocrinologist has made several poster abstract presentations, written numerous publications, and made academic presentations. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Physicians, and American College of Osteopathic Internists.
He and his wife, Emma, are excited to experience all the outdoor recreation opportunities in Lakes Country. Outside his practice, Dr. Berquist enjoys running, biking, traveling, cooking, and curling.
