Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby recently received the Orthopedic Center of Excellence designation from DNV Healthcare, a hospital accreditation organization. CRMC is Minnesota's first and only critical access hospital to be awarded certification and center of excellence designation in four orthopaedic programs.
The Orthopedic Center of Excellence designation from DNV is obtained by achieving advanced certification in three orthopaedic programs. CRMC exceeded that threshold and became the first to earn four: Advanced Foot & Ankle Surgery Certification, Advanced Hip & Knee Replacement Certification, Advanced Shoulder Surgery Certification and Advanced Spine Surgery Certification. These collective designations affirm CRMC’s excellence in the provision of diagnostic services, surgical services and therapies related to orthopaedic care.
“We couldn’t be prouder of the focus and effort our team has put into earning this distinction,” said CRMC Chief Executive Officer Amy Hart. “This is independent, outside evaluation that the community can look to with confidence and feel good about our ability to provide consistent, high quality orthopaedic care. We have the equipment, personnel and training. Achieving this designation validates all the effort we put into ensuring the health and safety of our orthopaedic patients.”
Erik Severson, M.D., CRMC’s Orthopaedic Medical Director, agrees. “When it comes to hip, knee or shoulder replacement, spine surgery, or foot and ankle surgery, we have committed ourselves to staying on the forefront of technology and innovation. Independent evaluation such as this by respected industry leaders like DNV is one way we measure ourselves to make sure we’re continuing to provide the best possible care.”
DNV is a global independent certification, assurance and risk management provider, operating in more than 100 countries. Their advanced orthopaedic requirements are informed by the guidelines and recommendations of organizations such as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the ERAS® Society, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and relevant requirements of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Conditions of Participation for Hospitals.
