
Those investigating treatment options for weight loss are invited to a virtual informational seminar about bariatric surgery offered by Minnesota Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIMIS) on Tuesday, Dec. 1. Visit https://www.facebook.com/crosbycares/ at 3 p.m. to view the presentation.
Surgeon Paul Severson, M.D., will speak about obesity as a disease, its causes and surgical options. Registered Nurse Corrie Jeremiason will provide information about every aspect of the weight loss program including requirements of the program, timelines and insurance coverage. Dietitian Gina Schimek will review the medical nutrition therapy required.
Cuyuna Regional Medical Center has a weight loss surgery program at MIMIS, located on the medical campus in Crosby. The program is dedicated to helping patients make educated decisions about weight loss and surgical weight loss procedures. Five surgeons are available to perform bariatric surgery procedures.
Over the past 18 years, more than 2,200 laparoscopic bariatric operations which include gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and revisional surgeries have been performed at CRMC. Patients have lost an average of 100 pounds.
