
A free seminar on sports medical care and performance training for athletes of all levels is being presented by Cuyuna Regional Medical Center’s Sports Medicine team on Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Northern Cowboy Flame N’ Brew, 19090 Minnesota 371 in Brainerd.
Area college, high school and other athletic coaches are invited to learn about the latest athletic injury prevention and treatment programs. Professionals will help coaches determine symptoms of injuries, when medical treatment is necessary, and whether its right for athletes to return to practice and competition.
Family Physician Dr. Ryan Fier will speak about cervical conditions and injuries. Orthopedist Dr. Jonathan Herseth will speak about shoulder dislocations and other shoulder injuries. Hand Surgeon Dr. Susan Moen will speak about the treatment and diagnosis of finger and wrist injuries. All presentations will also cover prevention, recovery and rehabilitation for that injury and informational handouts will be provided regarding concussions, nutrition and more. Coaches will also have the opportunity to meet CRMC’s new Athletic Trainer Donovan Fornal and learn about its team of doctors, specialists, physical therapists and other providers who administer immediate emergency and follow-up care.
