
Brainerd Lakes Area individuals, families, and caregivers affected by Type 1 diabetes at all life stages are invited to gather for a free day of education and connection at the TypeOneNation Summit on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the RiverCentre in St. Paul. Sponsored by Cuyuna Regional Medical Center’s Because of Brandon event, a tour bus and hotel accommodations will be provided for area residents.
At the summit, attendees will choose from 10 breakout sessions, can talk to experts about research advances, meet with other attendees to exchange ideas, and participate in discussions. Dr. Bruce Buckingham from Stanford University School of Medicine will present the research keynote address. Coffee breaks and lunch will be provided.
The summit will also offer a Kids Camp that provides supervised programming and structured activities for elementary and middle school children to allow parents to participate in sessions while kids connect with others and have fun. Teen Central will offer programming for high school students, including small group discussion, creative brainstorming, games and activities.
