Board Certified Vascular Surgeon Kamran Karimi, MD, FACS, joined the medical staff of Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in November 2023 to assist Fellowship-trained Spine Surgeon Dr. James Stokman in Anterior Access Spine Fusion surgery. A vascular surgery attending surgeon in the Twin Cities, he also practices at Hennepin County Medical Center, Fairview Southdale Hospital, University of Minnesota Medical School, St. John’s Hospital, Woodwinds, and Fairview Ridges Hospital. From 2009 to 2016, Dr. Karimi was a general, trauma, vascular, and endovascular surgeon at Waterloo Clinic in Iowa. From 2006 to 2007, he was an attending surgeon at West Virginia University Hospital’s Division of Trauma, Emergency Surgery, and Critical Care in Morgantown, West Virginia. He was also Chief Resident there from 2005 to 2006 and a Categorical Resident from 2001 to 2005. Dr. Karimi completed a Fellowship in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. The specialist earned his Medical Degree at The Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. He also earned a degree in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and Urdu with honors from the University of Cambridge. Dr. Karimi has earned numerous teaching and other awards. He has written several publications and completed research. Among his practice interests are anterior access spine fusion surgery, abdominal aortic aneurysms, open and endovascular surgery, peripheral artery diseases and endovascular interventions for critical limb ischemia, and carotid artery disease. A citizen of both the United States and Pakistan, he speaks English, Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, and French.
