“I have good flexibility and range of motion. My left arm is as strong as my right arm again so carrying heavier things is not difficult. Before surgery, my left arm had become almost unusable. I tried an injection in my shoulder because I could not take over-the-counter medication due to my sensitive stomach. I decided rather than continue with the injections, the best results would only come from surgery. I knew I had severe arthritis in my left shoulder because it was shown in X-rays taken several years earlier after a fall. I made an appointment to see Dr. Klassen and found him and his staff to be friendly and encouraging. After the surgery, I saw a physical therapist to work on strengthening and range of motion exercises. I continued to do those exercises at home as well. It has been a year now since my surgery and I am back to my sewing and quilting projects. I just finished a quilt top that will be made into a quilt for the new Adult and Teen Challenge Women’s Outpatient Treatment Center.”
