Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Board Certified Pediatrician and Sports Medicine physician Wendi Johnson, M.D., will speak about Walk with the Doc, a new health program that brings doctors and patients together to walk, on KKIN Radio’s Community Connection program Thursday, May 13, from 8 to 8:30 a.m.
Tune in at 94.3 on the FM dial to hear how this exciting and simple program has shown such improved health results for countless people. Dr. Johnson will explain why increasing exercise, even moderately, may help reduce the risks of many diseases, including coronary heart disease and Type 2 diabetes. Adding 10 minutes of physical activity a day, such as walking, is a small change that can make a big difference.
CRMC teamed up with Walk with a Doc to bring the international program to the Cuyuna Lakes. The inaugural walk was May 5 and walks continue the first Wednesday of each month beginning at 4 p.m. Participants meet in the Hallett Community Center parking lot in Crosby, hear a brief presentation by Dr. Johnson on the benefits of walking, and then head to the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Trails near the Croft Mine to walk at their own pace.
Dr. Johnson has been a member of CRMC’s medical staff since September 2020. She came to CRMC from St. Cloud where she practiced at CentraCare Clinic Pediatrics. She grew up in Michigan and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Hillsdale College and then earned her Medical Degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit.
