Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Licensed Practical Nurse Ben Mooers of Deerwood today received the organization’s Trophy Fish Award for going above and beyond in his job duties.
On a recent Monday, CRMC’s telemedicine software was being updated and staff was not notified so they could not alert patients. When a patient who drove from McGregor was inconvenienced, Mooers took it upon himself to obtain gas cards and a Cornerstone Coffeeshop voucher for the patient. He even obtained additional vouchers for his fellow coworkers to give to patients. Mooers stayed at the clinic that morning until all patients affected were taken care of and happy.
Mooers has been a member of CRMC’s staff since 2009. A graduate of Itasca Community College, he also worked at Bayshore Health Center in Duluth.
