
An upcoming women’s health seminar, “Changes Before the Change: A Perimenopause Discussion for Women,” will be the topic of KKIN Radio’s Community Connection program, 94.3 on the FM dial, Thursday, Sept. 9, from 8 to 8:30 a.m.
Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Obstetrician/Gynecologist Rachel Cady, M.D., will preview the free seminar set for Thursday, Sept. 16, from 6-7 p.m. at Main Street Ale House in Nisswa. Those interested in attending must make a reservation at www.cuyunamed.org/change-before-the-change.
A certified menopause practitioner, Dr. Cady will provide information to help women learn ways to navigate this important time in their lives. She will guide women in understanding what is changing in their body during perimenopause, offer support and respect, and suggest ways to help women get through this natural process. Participants will learn what, why and how to manage weight change; mood swings/memory and concentration concerns; menstrual changes; sleep problems; sexual concerns/pain/libido changes; vaginal dryness; and taking care of yourself during menopause.
A member of CRMC’s medical staff since 2004, Dr. Cady is experienced at minimally invasive surgery for pelvic floor disorders incontinence, pelvic pain, endometriosis, and uterine fibroids which results in patient outcomes of less pain and recovery. Her areas of expertise include obstetrics, gynecology, vulvar disorders, pelvic pain, and pelvic floor rehabilitation/incontinence. An honors graduate of the University of Georgia, she earned her Medical Degree at the University of Minnesota and completed a residency at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, Mich. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and an active member in the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and the American Urogynecologic Society.
