Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Emergency Medical Services Educator Bryan Krantz, R.N., of Brainerd on April 4 received the organization’s Trophy Fish Award for going above and beyond in his job duties.
During this winter’s subzero weather, Krantz was returning from teaching an EMS class when he stopped at Crosby’s Holiday station. He observed a young man asking for a ride and offered to help him. When he drove the man and his girlfriend home, he saw that it was just a shed that they were staying in and he knew they had no heat or food. He returned to the Holiday store and to buy them some sandwiches, cookies and other staples and brought the items to the shed. He then worked with local law enforcement and churches to find them suitable housing. Because of Krantz’s efforts, the couple was able to move to and stay at the Deerwood Motel for the during of the cold snap.
