Plant vegetable seeds and take home a potted plant; assemble caterpillars, ants on a log, and pizzas with fresh fruits and vegetables; try chair yoga; and participate in potato sack races, an obstacle course and relay races at Crosby’s first Music in the Parks event of this summer on Thursday, June 14.
Sponsored by Cuyuna Regional Medical Center, in addition to the activities, complimentary healthy refreshments will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. at Memorial Park. On the menu will be a pita burger with smoky ranch and veggie slaw. Those attending the free event will also receive a Farmer’s Market bag.
Youth can try their skill and win prizes at a giant ring toss, bear pong, target station, tic tac toe; take part in a watermelon eating contest and fruit walk; throw a bean bag through an Operation Game patient; take a photo in a doctor and nurse booth; and have their face painted. They can also gather more seeds to plant from “Rooty” the carrot.
The Garden Club of Cuyuna Lakes is facilitating the planting station and The Hallett Community Center will offer Simon Says—Fitness Edition; Red Light, Green Light; in addition to an obstacle course and relay. Uplifted Wellness will demonstrate chair yoga and Farmer’s Market vendors will provide samples and information.
Top Hat Owls and Cuyuna Rhythm Band will provide live entertainment until 8 p.m. The Top Hat Owls are an indie pop folk trio from Minneapolis. Cuyuna Rhythm is a local band, playing classic rock and oldies from the 1950s to the 2000s, a mix of old and new country, blues and boogie. The band plays a lot of upbeat music, mixed with an occasional slow dance or ballad.
Bring lawn chairs or blankets, sit back and enjoy the event while overlooking the spectacular views of Serpent Lake.
