Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Nurse Practitioner Melissa Goble of Brainerd on May 25 received the organization’s Catch of the Year Award for going above and beyond in her job duties by assisting a family who had an accident. Each month, CRMC honors an employee with its Trophy Fish Award and once a year one staff member is highlighted for the Catch of the Year Award.
Goble was out enjoying recreating on the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area bike trails last summer when she came upon a bicycle accident. She got help, drove the patient’s vehicle to the hospital with the patient’s two children, and watched the children in the ER waiting room while their parent received healthcare. She even took the children to Dairy Queen for ice cream while they were waiting and stayed with them until 9 o’clock that evening when their parent was released.
“This really went above and beyond showing a love for her community and compassion for scared kids,” her nominators wrote.
Goble has been a member of CRMC’s staff since 2005. She worked for many years as a Birthing Center nurse and joined the medical staff in 2018 after earning a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.
