Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Patient Access Specialist Shelly Sharp of Deerwood received the organization’s Trophy Fish Award this week for going above and beyond in assisting a patient.
Recently, an elderly patient was brought to CRMC by a transportation service and needed to pick up some eyeglasses from the Great River Eye Clinic across the highway from the hospital. The patient was going to use his walker to walk across the icy highway to get the glasses and Sharp realized it would be dangerous. She insisted on getting the glasses for him while he waited in the warm clinic. The patient was very grateful for what she did.
A CRMC employee the past 32 years, Sharp is a graduate of Crosby-Ironton High School.
