A total of $2,525 was raised for Because of Brandon, the annual benefit for Cuyuna Regional Medical Center's Diabetes Education Department, at the Iron Range Eatery and Cuyuna Brewing Company's Happy Hour for a Cause event in Crosby on Thursday, Feb. 27.
The event was all about Brandon Houge, a young man from Ironton who passed away at age 27 from Type 1 diabetes. Because of Brandon was established in honor of his memory the summer of 2016 and since then has raised over $200,000 to help others avoid the same loss.
Special thanks to the Iron Range Eatery which donated Brandon’s favorite foods and to Cuyuna Brewing Co. that donated the beverages. Also, to the CRMC who staff baked and sold 42 loaves of Brandon’s favorite banana bread recipe. One hundred percent of the money raised will be used to fund youth diabetes camps, patient travel expenses and educational events.
Mark your calendar for this year’s Because of Brandon event which will be held on Saturday, July 25, at The Bridge Tavern in Crosby. The benefit will include a pig roast, silent auction, raffle, games and activities and live music.
Event updates will be available at www.cuyunamed.org.
