People of all ages are encouraged to join in celebrating the first anniversary of Cuyuna Regional Medical Center’s Walk with a Doc program on Wednesday, May 4, at 4:30 p.m. at the Hallett Community Center in Crosby. Refreshments will be served and prizes awarded.
Following the celebration, everyone is welcome to hear Dr. Wendi Johnson make a brief presentation on the benefits of walking and wellness and then join her in walking at their own pace on the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Trails near the Croft Mine.
The free health program that brings doctors and other healthcare providers and patients together to walk was started by CRMC in May 2021. With the goal of improving the health of participants, walks are held at 4:30 p.m. every Wednesday regardless of the weather starting at the Hallett Center.
Increasing exercise, even moderately, may help reduce the risks of many diseases, including coronary heart disease and Type 2 diabetes. Adding 10 minutes of physical activity a day, such as walking, is a small change that can make a big difference.
