U.S. News & World Report Names Cuyuna Regional Medical Center High Performing in Hip Replacement
Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, Minn., has been recognized for the second consecutive year as a Best Hospital for 2019-20 by U.S. News & World Report. The annual Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 30th year, are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or for common elective procedures.
CRMC achieved the highest rating possible for Hip Replacement and is listed as High Performing. U.S. News evaluates how well hospitals perform in hip replacement using data on patient survival, nurse staffing, volume and more. Hospitals receive one of three ratings—high performing, average or below average—unless they treated an insufficient number of patients to be rated.
CRMC is among the elite 33% of hospitals throughout the country that earned a 2019-20 U.S. News Award. Only 10% to 26% of hospitals were rated High Performing. Of the more than 5,000 hospitals that underwent the editorial team’s rigorous analysis, fewer than 1,500 qualified for any type of award at all. U.S. News evaluated hospitals nationwide in 16 adult medical specialties, 9 adult medical procedures or conditions and 10 pediatric specialties. To be nationally ranked in a specialty, a hospital must excel in caring for the sickest, most medically complex patients.
“We are honored and extremely proud to be ranked among the nation’s top ranked hospitals for orthopaedics,” said CRMC CEO Kyle Bauer. “We are committed to continue providing the highest standards of care and quality.”
“Our patient-centered clinical staff works together seamlessly from diagnosis to surgery, and if needed, to rehabilitation to provide amazing outcomes,” said Erik Severson, M.D., CRMC’s Orthopaedic Medical Director. “Patients benefit from the expertise of our team of sub-specialty fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeons, the latest technologies, proven processes and a positive culture.”
The U.S. News Best Hospitals methodologies in most areas of care are based largely or entirely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and readmission rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.
