Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby is among Minnesota’s top-rated hospitals for patient experience, with a five-star Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. CRMC is one of eight Minnesota hospitals to receive the recognition.
HCAHPS is a national, standardized survey of hospital patients about their experiences during a recent hospital stay. Ratings range from one to five stars and are published quarterly to help consumers choose where to receive care. The 29-item survey captures patient’s experience of communication with doctors and nurses, responsiveness of staff, communication about medicines, cleanliness and quietness of the hospital, discharge information, transition to post-hospital care, and overall rating of the hospital.
The HCAHPS summary star rating is the average of the ratings of the 10 topic-specific HCAHPS measures. The HCAHPS summary star rating combines information about different aspects of patient experience of care to make it easier to compare hospitals. The figures for this rating are from the CMS Hospital Compare website and represent data released January 26, 2022, based on date from July 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021.
