COVID-19 booster vaccines are now being offered by appointment to people who previously received the first two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center’s Crosby Clinic Monday through Friday afternoons.
To qualify for the booster, people must have already received the first two doses of the Pfizer vaccine. Those who received the Moderna or J&J vaccine cannot receive the Pfizer booster. Also, it must be at least six months from when the second dose was received (March 2021.)
Those receiving the booster must also meet the criteria outlined by the Centers for Disease Control. The CDC recommends that the following groups should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least six months after completing their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series (i.e., the first two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine): people age 65 years and older, residents age 18 years and older in long-term care settings, people aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions.
The CDC also recommends the following groups may receive a booster shot, based on their individual benefits and risks: people age 18–49 years with underlying medical conditions and people aged 18–64 years at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting.
Appointments may be scheduled by calling 218-545-4560. A limited number of appointments are being offered each afternoon.
