Because of Brandon, a fund raiser in memory of Brandon Houge who unexpectedly passed away from complications from diabetes in 2015, will be held Friday, April 21, from 4-7 p.m. at The Hudson in Ironton.
The event will include a wine, beer and spirits tasting with appetizers, silent auction, live music, and more. All proceeds will benefit Brandon’s Wallet which helps area Type 1 diabetes patients with travel costs for treatment, scholarships to Camp Needlepoint for youth, and to those who may need assistance with insulin and glucose testing supplies.
A young woman from Pequot Lakes who has benefited from Brandon’s Wallet wrote, "Managing this condition isn't easy and it costs a lot of money. We need to buy many medical items including insulin and make regular trips every three months to the Cities for my appointments because we don't have any specialists in our area who can treat kids with diabetes. With the help of Brandon’s Wallet, we have been lucky to receive gas and gift cards for a meal while we are there to help make our trips less expensive for my parents."
