Patti Polansky Recognized with DAISY Award
Cuyuna Regional Medical Center (CRMC) has recognized Patti Polansky, RN, with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses for the compassion, advocacy and exceptional care she provided to a patient and their family.
Polansky was nominated by a family member who experienced her care while both her husband and daughter were receiving treatment at CRMC.
“I nominate Patti for the incredible compassion and care she showed my family while my husband recovered from surgery and my daughter was hospitalized,” the nominator wrote.
The family member described how Polansky helped her daughter, who was uncomfortable around new people and afraid of needles, feel safe during difficult moments.
“She made my daughter feel safe by getting on her level, speaking gently and holding her hand through difficult moments. She advocated for my husband, listened to his concerns, explained his choices and made sure he felt heard and respected.”
Polansky also made sure the nominator felt informed and supported while caring for two family members at the same time.
“Patti went above and beyond and made our entire family feel safe, heard and cared for.”
Recognizing Extraordinary Nursing Care at CRMC
CRMC has participated in the DAISY Award program since 2022, recognizing nurses who make an extraordinary difference in the lives of their patients and families.
Each quarter, a CRMC committee reviews nominations submitted by patients, families and others and selects a nurse for the recognition.
DAISY Award recipients are celebrated alongside colleagues, patients and visitors. Each honoree receives a certificate recognizing the meaningful difference they make in the lives of others, a DAISY Award pin and “A Healer’s Touch,” a hand-carved sculpture created by Shona artists in Zimbabwe.
