About Cuyuna Regional Medical Center
A community-built facility, Cuyuna Regional Medical Center serves approximately 30,000 people in the Brainerd Lakes, an area known as Minnesota’s vacation destination because of its beautiful lakes, woodlands and ranges of hills offering a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities. In addition to a critical access hospital, CRMC manages three outpatient clinics and a senior living community consisting of a care center, assisted living and memory care.
The area’s mining pits and piles of waste rock left behind after decades of mining for iron ore were transformed into beautiful terrain frequented by Bald Eagles, deer, red fox, coyote, beaver, numerous birds and other wildlife. Deep pits are now filled with crystal clear water, trout, northern bass, sunfish and walleyes and the natural shorelines are covered with red-earth trails, wildflowers, trembling aspen, birch, oak and basswood trees.
The hospital’s entrance features an all-glass atrium with modern, curving lines over a welcoming foyer with a soaring stone fireplace. Contemporary-designed patient rooms have hardwood floors, comfortable furniture that can be adjusted for individual needs, and large windows overlooking a lake and plentiful forests. The designer common and eating spaces are an architectural model of simplicity and grace. Natural stone, wood, and metal combine tastefully inside and out the facility adding to its stylish looks and comforting feel. Beauty is in the hospital’s symmetry as well as its natural surroundings.
A stunning 2008 remodeling and addition to the 1950s-era building was ahead of its time. CRMC’s growth continued when it partnered with the Minneapolis Heart Institute to open a 22,000-square-feet medical clinic in Baxter in 2013. The following year, a new 13,000-square-feet Business Support Services building was opened and in 2015 a state-of-the-art surgery center and a new outpatient multi-specialty clinic were opened. CRMC’s Care Center and many departments also underwent renovations.
CRMC has grown to offer the full spectrum of health care from birth to death. The organization is known for its innovation and creativity and unique partnerships.
