Dr. Darabi came to CRMC in September 2019 from North Carolina where he was a member of the hematology/oncology faculty at Levine Cancer Institute of Atrium Health (formerly Carolinas Healthcare System) in Charlotte for three years. Before that, he was medical director of the hematology/oncology program at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia for three years. He also served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Sanford School of Medicine of the University of South Dakota and worked as a hematologist/medical oncologist at Sanford Cancer Center in Sioux Falls for five years. The oncologist received his Medical Degree from the University of Cologne in Germany where he also completed a research dissertation at the German Hodgkin Lymphoma Study Group.He completed an Internal Medicine residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia followed by a fellowship in Transfusion Medicine/Blood Banking at Harvard University. He then completed a Hematology/Medical Oncology fellowship at New York Medical College. He became board-certified in Internal Medicine in 2004 and re-certified in 2014. He became board-certified in Hematology and Medical Oncology in 2008 and re-certified in 2018. Dr. Darabi has authored and co-authored numerous abstracts and peer-reviewed medical articles, which have appeared in prestigious journals such as Leukemia and Lymphoma, Transfusion, Bone Marrow Transplant, and American Journal of Clinical Pathology. He is a past recipient of the American Society of Hematology Travel Award and participant in the American Society of Clinical Oncology/American Association of Cancer Research "Methods in Clinical Cancer Research" workshop. He was a co-recipient of the American Society of Clinical Oncology Clinical Trials Participation Award in 2010.
