Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Receives Level III Trauma Center Designation

In September 2007, Cuyuna Regional Medical Center (CRMC) received Level III Trauma Center designation from the Minnesota Department of Health.

To receive this designation, a hospital is required to establish formalized trauma programs within their facility and coordinate a unified approach to providing, measuring and improving trauma care within their emergency and surgical departments.  As a Level III Trauma Center, Cuyuna Regional Medical Center is optimally prepared to respond to traumatic emergencies with established protocols and resources so they can efficiently manage seriously injured patients.   Additionally, CRMC will collect and contribute data to a statewide trauma registry.

“On average, more than 2,400 Minnesotans die from trauma each year.  For every injury death, nine people are hospitalized for trauma related injuries,” states CRMC Emergency Services and Trauma Medical Director, Dr. Rob Westin.  “CRMC’s commitment to achieving Level III Trauma Center designation shows our commitment to serving the people and communities of our region.”
