A Historical Perspective

Over forty years ago, residents of the Cuyuna Range began to make their dreams of community based healthcare into a reality. They worked together to explore the possibilities and acted upon their dreams of keeping high quality healthcare in the community. Today, that dream has evolved into a high tech medical campus that offers an array of services to residents throughout the region.

In 2002, an 87,000 square foot expansion of the Medical Campus was completed. Central Lakes Medical Clinic moved into its new and expanded clinic facility. Other components of the project included a state-of-the-art surgery center, and expanded emergency department, radiology, laboratory and rehabilitation center. A retail pharmacy was also added to the campus. Along with new and expanded departments, new services such as full-time cardiology care through Minneapolis Heart Institute in Crosby were also added.

In 2003, CRMC formed the Minnesota Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIMIS) The formation of MIMIS demonstrated further the long-standing commitment of CRMC and its surgeons to minimally invasive surgery. Twelve campus-based surgeons and more than 65 surgical professionals perform are variety of both inpatient and outpatient procedures. CRMC has continued to equip its ever growing surgery center with the latest in technology allowing surgeons to perform sophisticated minimally invasive surgery.

Ground breaking began in October 2005 for a 70,000 square foot addition and renovation. This project will create an all new inpatient unit with private rooms, expanded areas for ICU and birthing, a new main entrance, expanded on-site retail pharmacy and more. Here technology and comfort are being melded together to provide patients with the best possible care.
