Building to the Future
A Medical Campus Growing for You.
With the first phase of the construction project complete, Cuyuna Regional Medical Center (CRMC) continues to experience one of the largest and most progressive expansion projects in the medical center’s history. The continued growth at CRMC had prompted the need for additional patient rooms, particularly in the areas of intensive care and birthing. With the need for additional space, the decision was made to build a new inpatient unit featuring patient suites that are private, spacious and have a home-like quality. The first phase of the construction project was completed in October 2007 creating the new inpatient unit as well as a new retail pharmacy. With a new main entrance and renovation of the old inpatient unit still to come, CRMC continues its commitment to growth into 2008.

The new birthing suites are spacious and designed to provide a warm and inviting atmosphere.
CRMC staff has also taken their commitment to service another step further by implementing a patient and family centered approach to care. Patient and family centered care is an innovative approach to health care that is grounded in beneficial partnerships among patients, families and providers.
With the comfort of a patient in mind and building upon a commitment to service, CRMC replaced traditional nurses’ stations with several decentralized “care stations”. Care stations and patient suites are equipped with the latest technology including a system which provides a paperless medical record. CRMC has also implemented a system which utilizes bar code scanning technology to confirm the patient’s identity and medication information prior to administering medication. This addition of technology will reduce preventable medication errors, increase accuracy and efficiency for caregivers completing medication administration records, and provide physicians faster and easier access to critical information to manage patient care.

The Reek Family Lounge provides a peaceful and relaxing area for patients and their families.

The new ICU offers personalized care and advanced monitoring capabilities.
The building project continues at an exciting pace in 2008, with construction scheduled to be complete in late summer. This second phase of the construction project includes the addition of family lounges, a café, a chapel, and a new area for ambulatory care services. These features will be located along a large sweeping corridor leading to the new inpatient unit. CRMC will continue its commitment to growth and expansion in the next phase of construction while continuing to provide superior quality care to patients.
