I CAN Prevent Diabetes program offered in May
(Crosby) – Cuyuna Regional Medical Center’s Diabetes Education is offering the I CAN Prevent Diabetes (Individuals and Communities Acting Now to Prevent Diabetes©) program at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center (CRMC) in Crosby. I CAN Prevent Diabetes is a collaborative, community-based, lifestyle change program designed for people with pre-diabetes or those with at least two risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, being overweight, or a family history of diabetes. CRMC launched the program in January and this will be the second 16 week course offered.
The first session of the program will be Thursday, May 10, 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at CRMC in the Ambulatory Services Conference Room. Additional sessions will be held Thursday evenings at the same time and location with new topics discussed each week. The last session is August 23.
Throughout the program, participants will meet in a group-based setting and learn how to change lifestyle habits in an effort to prevent diabetes. Weigh-ins will be held each week to track progress and trained lifestyle coaches will help participants lose weight, increase physical activity and develop healthier eating habits.
The I CAN Prevent Diabetes program at CRMC is open to the public and requires a $144 registration fee to participate in the entire 16 week program. Registration forms can be obtained here or by calling CRMC Diabetes Education at 218-545-4448.
